A friend recommended that I stop at Kuhombutsu station on my way back to Jiyugaoka station where I would transfer on my way home. The main attraction being Kuhombutsu temple established in 1678. This the approach.

D&DEPARTMENT is a design and travel book publishing company that has another branch in the Hikarie Building in Shibuya. I stopped by their cafe in Kumbutsu fro a coffee on my journey.
I've been meaning to check out Todoroki Valley for some time and today was a beautiful fall day, so I decided to make the trek to Setagaya-ku to explore.

I've often heard good things about Bat Trench in Ebisu, but every time I've tried to visit it was already fully occupied as there are few seats in the small space. I finally managed to get in and indeed it is a fine bar like its sister shop Tram. I enjoyed an original whisky cocktail called the the Lion's Tail.
Fanantico is anew Mexican restaurant in Nakameguro with an interesting taco selection and it is a smokeless, reservationless, and cashless venue near the river. I started out with self-muddled guacamole.
My favorite tacos were the el pastor and chipolte beef tacos. I think this will be a regular stop in the future. There are a variety of other tacos and side dishes as well.
Found a quaint little sushi shop in the back streets near Minami Asagaya station, Oooirizushi.

I have walked by these dog statues in front of the Nakano City Hall for several years on my way to Nakano Central Park and Meiji University, but never knew the story behind it. It seems it is a memorial to Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, who was known as the "dog shogun." The five dogs represent the five big public dog kennels (inuyoshiki) built to house abandoned dogs in Nakano; reportedly they housed 100,000 dogs.
I recently learned about Tetsugakudo-koen, a garden designed by a philosopher. It was built by Inuoe Enryo (1858-1919), founder of Toyo University) in 1906 and is located in deep north Nakano ward (30 minutes walking from Nakano JR station and 10 minutes by bus). Above is the Rokkendai ("Tower of Six Sages").
Uchukan ("Universal Hall") is under construction as was the "Gate of Comon Sense."

I heard a friend call Mi Familia the best Mexican restaurant in Tokyo, so I was curious to try it out. I tried some traditional Mexican dishes such as Chicken Enchiladas with Corn Sauce (2 for ¥1600) and Chicken Mole "Puebla" Style ~Cacao Sauce with Mixed Spices~(¥2500). It'S pretty good, but not cheap-not sure its the best, but quite good. The staff told me that the staff is mostly the same crew from the now defunct Los Colinos that used to be Roppongi.
Met a friend for lunch the other day and we went to a nice Italian restaurant in Ropponigi, La Sfrolina, and had a nice hand made "Tagliatelle Bolognese."
I didn't get around to many places this year for the Yeibisu Grand Prix. My first outing was at Jing Hua Xiao Chi Singapore dumpling house. The dish was a selection of 5 different flavored shou ron pou (soup dumplings) — curry, yuzu, nori, ume and plain — served with a bottle of Ebisu. They were a bit hit and miss for me regarding the flavors-the yuzu was the best though.
Tenyawan was a winner with melt-in-the-mouth, fall-off-the-bone Miyazaki pork spare-ribs. I wish I had made a better effort-maybe next year.
