Greta Gerwig's version of Little Women (2019) is another star studded production with its own message. the two main sisters Jo and Meg are played by Saoirse Ronan and Emma Watson, but there are plenty of ensemble actors who add to the spectacle such as Laura Dern, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Cooper, Timothee Chalat and Meryl Streep. There are a number of flashbacks in this version that felt somewhat clunky to me, since I don't know the story so well. But there's a sort of feminist reading of the film as well, in those days women had many fewer options than women today-thus a favorable marriage meant much more then.
