I was really looking forward to seeing Bong Joon Ho’s (Memories of a Murder and The Host) most recent film, Parasite (2019). It is a thought-provoking film, that is really three films in one. On one level it is a satirical film about class differences in Korea today. On another level it is a horror film. And on a third level it is a film of hope and redemption. There moments of humor throughout as well and several memorable set pieces. Overall, it’s not as satisfying as some of Bong’s earlier successes, but entertaining and provocative. It’s well worth a look.
