So I suppose one of the themes of this trip has been watching films about food and drink, and Agave: The Spirit of a Nation (2018) directed by Nick Kovacic and Matthew Roggieri. This documentary looks at the distillation process of agave to make tequila and mezcal. They look at the history, present, and future challenges ahead for producers.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) directed by Alfonson Gomez-Rejon is one of those well-received hipster coming of age films. Seems like there have been a few in recent years-Juno, Adventureland, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, etc. And this one isn't bad, there were some nice moments, but it just feels played out as a genre to me.
I think I'd watch any documentary by Alex Gibney-he hasn't let me down yet (Taxi to the Darkside, Client 9, Going Clear, etc.) and his latest, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley (2019). It is the fascinating story of Theranos, a multi-billion dollar tech company founded by Elizabeth Holmes, the youngest self-made female billionaire, and the massive fraud that collapsed the company.
