Camera Buff (1979) is another impressive early film from Polish master Krzysztof Kieślowski. The film opens with a striking image of a bird attacking another. Perhaps this is a metaphor for the artist fighting against the conventional life. In this film Filip (Jerzy Stuhl) seems content in life, a comfortable job, and his wife is giving birth to his first child and to commemorate that event he has purchased a film camera. His boss learns the fact and asks him to make a film for him and the life of the artist has just begun. He succumbs to his passion as a film maker at the expense of his family and in the face of censorship from the state.
