A streaming service I belong to, MUBI, recently featured Orson Welles' entertaining B movie, The Stranger (1946) starring Edward G. Robinson as a Nazi hunter who tracks down a former high ranking officer, Charles Rankin (Orson Welles) who has managed to integrate himself into a small American college town. In fact he has done a snow job and married the local liberal judge's daughter Mary (Loretta Young). It's a somewhat standard thriller, but exhibits some artistry with exceptional cinematography by Russell Metty who was also behind the camera on the masterful Touch of Evil.
