My friend Ted set up a stay at the famous Chigasaki-kan (a ryokan-Japanese style inn) in Chigasaki, Kanagawa (a laid back beach town-with the first beach where Japanese surfed) about an hour from Tokyo. It's famous because it is where Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu(Tokyo Story) used to hole up with his script writing partners to write screen plays. We met a couple of friends who live in the city for food and drinks at a craft beer bar/brewery Friday night.
It is also notable that Chigasaki is sister cities with Honolulu, Hawaii.
