Tora-san's Rise And Fall (15)

In Tora-san's Rise And Fall (1975) there is another "Madonna" who returns to Tora's (Kiyoshi Atsumi) life-Lily the jazz singer (Ruriko Asaoka). The opening dream sequence sees Tora as the sea pirate "Tiger" rescuing a slave ship captained by the "Octopus" (Hisao Dasai). Lily stops by Tora-ya only to find Tora out. Tora has been keeping company with a mild mannered salaryman, Papa (Eiji Funakoshi) who is on the run from his conventional life and a suicide risk according to Tora. They happen upon Lily in Hakodate, Hokkaido and go on to Otaru-where Papa's first love lives. After seeing her he gives up and goes home. Tora and Lily have a fight and Tora returns home only to find Lily coming after him at Toraya. His family meddles and tries to pair Tora off with Lily but he sees it as futile since they are both free spirits that need to wander. At the end, Tora runs into a group of women on their way to an onsen and they invite him along.
