After watching Danny Boyle's entertaining and well-made TV series on the John Paul Getty III's kidnapping I felt the need to see Ridley Scott's film version, All The Money In The World (2017). In many ways the film version may be more cinematic-looking, but ti was interesting to note different preferences in casting: (John Paul Getty) Donald Sutherland vs. Christopher Plummer, (Gail) Michelle Williams vs. Hillary Swank, (Paul) Harrison Dickson vs. Charlie Plummer, (Fletcher Chance) Brendan Fraser vs. Mark Whalberg. I thought Sutherland was more menacing as Getty, but Plummer held his own. Perhaps, its a draw between Williams and Swank-both were excellent, maybe Williams by a nose. I think Dickson was also more vivid in his portrayal than the younger Plummer. Fraser was much more memorable than Whalberg. Both films invented things to make the film more dramatic as it would be expected. However, the TV series was much more fun to watch and had better writing in my opinion.
