I'm not sure what I was expecting from Kim Synder's documentary Newtown (2016), but it seemed lacking on some level. It is essentially a documentary about the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shootings. So I expect that i though it would be more political or more aggressive about how callously government officials turned their backs on any gun regulations after children were massacred by a troubled individual. It was a watershed moment in which many pundits said if this tragedy doesn't lead to new laws prohibiting gun ownership then nothing will. Recently there was another big push for gun control following the Parkland shootings and again nothing has happened, so it seems that the pundits are right-not sure if there will ever be another big push-disappointing. I'm sorry for the families but I guess I wanted more about the politics of taking guns away from unstable individuals that routinely break down and kill others.
