I have been a fan of Jhumpa Lahiri's fiction, so I decided I should try her non fiction book about her relationship with her third language-Italian-In Other Words (2015). It is a bilingual collection of essays about learning Italian. I could relate to much of what she discussed in the essays having had my own 20 plus years relationship with a foreign language-in my case Japanese. In Lahiri's case it makes me wonder if she will ever write in English again, but perhaps she does not have the need to do so -thus can follow her own interest in perfecting her Italian and maybe even writing fiction in her new language, despite the fact there is no significant reason why she would need to do so.
