This early Joon-ho Bong (The Host, Snowpiercer, Okja, etc.) film, Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000) is interesting on several levels. it is something of a black comedy with some barbs about a corrupt Korean society as well as making fun of their history as dog eaters as well as the debut of Doona Bae, who would go onto stardom in Korea and internationally, as the office assistant and dog protector. There are some great comedic set pieces, but it doesn't seem to coalesce as a whole-it drags at some points in the film. That being said, it is a very assured film length feature debut.
