I have long been a fan of Martin Amis's writing and have always enjoyed his nonfiction, his literary output is more hit and miss with me. So I looked forward to his latest collection of nonfiction, The Rub Of Time (2017). There are various essays on two of his favorite writers, Saul Bellow and Vladimir Nabakov, other literary figures (Philip Larkin, Philip Roth, John Updike, Iris Murdoch, J.G. Ballard, and Don DeLillo), others on American and world politics, sports, and those that fall under "More Personal." I think some of his best writing in this collection was a profile on John Travolta ("Travolta's Second Act") and an expose of the porno business ("In Pornoland: Pussies are Bullshit").
