I decided to get a little outside the center of the city and visit Malacca Botanical Garden, although there were some plants labelled it turned out to be more of an exercise park. My Grab (As Asia Uber) driver asked me if I was going jogging.
Despite the number of people about I saw two monkeys, but they moved too fast to be captured on film.
This little Chinese food shop run out of a family's house made some of the best food I've had on this trip so far. Also, some of the cheapest-I had two bowls of noodles and a lemon iced tea for 25 RM (Malaysian Ringgit)=less than $7.
The first bowl was Lau shu fen (silver needle noodles), which were so good I needed more.
The next bowl was minced pork and noodles.
I finally visited the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum (local history of Chinese-Malays) which is located on the same block as my hotel. It is a beautifully maintained household.
Heritage House, perhaps the saddest Irish pub on this day ever-I was the only customer, no Guinness on tap, Chinese pop songs playing in the background, and the staff didn't speak English. I don't think they knew it was St. Patrick's Day.
The Irish Harp has a Filipino band, granted they're good fun-saw them last night.
Dinner was at a Portuguese/Malaysian fusion place (former colony): sambal (hot paste) fish fillet with rice.
