Arabian Nights Volume One: The Restless One

I have enjoyed the films of Portuguese director Miquel Gomes film in the past, Tabu, in particular was a fascinating film. The loosely structured Arabian Nights Volume One: The Restless One (2015) was a bit of a chore for me to get through-and there are two more two hour  parts! Essentially some of the stories from Arabian Nights are adapted to modern Portugal in this epic, which sometimes came across as documentary like as in his earlier works. Being a completest I will probably watch all three parts despite my misgivings.
