I have heard good things about Hayao Miyazaki's film Ponyo (2008) and recently found out that Miyazaki based the location on Tomonoura, a town in Hiroshima on the Inland Sea. It's a charming tale of a boy who falls in love with a magical gold fish with a human face that wants to become human. It is a fantastical tale, with wizards and super natural beings, in which the sea rises and the earth is inhabited with sea creatures from thousands of years ago. I can't help but wondering if this was upsetting for people who survived the tsunami two years after, but then again this film is a fantastical fiction.

Yeah, when I was watching the other day I too wondered about the tsunami victims. That scene scared the hell out of my daughter when she was 3.
