I am a fan of Noah Hawley's Fargo TV series and was intrigued when I saw that he had a well-reviewed thriller, Before The Fall (2016). It is something of a thriller as we meet the principle characters of a routine flight from Martha's vineyard to New York that goes awry and crashes killing all on board except for a middle-aged painter, Scott Burroughs, who swims miles to safety ashore with a small boy. There a host of other characters, including all of the members on board which included two very rich and important men. It was a interesting story, but I found the dialogue and some of the characters a bit too contrived and on the nose. However, I liked how he wove two historical figures into the story: strongman Jack Lalanne and the Reverend Jim Jones.
