Two Days, One Night (2014) is a well-made drama from the Belgian bother directors, Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. It has been singled out by many critics to be one of the best films of the year. It has a very simple plot: a woman, played with great emotion by Marion Cotillard, visits all of her co-workers from a small factory to ask them to vote for her to keep her job over bonuses being offered by the company after evidence of vote rigging by a superior. It is manly Cotillard's performance which makes the film successful. However, the viewer is invested in the plot and wants to know what will happen as well. However, the film does not come off as overly cinematic, which doesn't necessarily mean it isn't compelling. Even though I liked the film, it wouldn't rate among my top films of 2014.
