I haven't read the novel from which David Fincher's Gone Girl (2014) is adapted, but I can say the film version was a successful film noir. It doesn't seem like this film covers much new territory in the genre, but with Fincher at the helm, this plays out in an entertianing manner. Both Ben Affleck and Romund Pike are compelling in their roles in the marital game of cat and mouse.
