Blue Ruin (2013) is one of those sleepers out of left field. It is a fascinating revenge story, about how the sins of the parents come to haunt the offspring. It was written and directed by Jeremy Sauliner. It stars Macon Blair as Dwight, a homeless man living out of his car who perpetuates the first act of violence that will begets a chain of violence when he learns that the murderer of his parents is released from prison. It is an unusual film in that it was difficult to predict what would happen next in the story unlike most thrillers. It is well-made and highly entertaining.
