The Slate Book Club discusses two versions of a Raymond Carver short story this month, the Gordon Lish edited version, "The Bath," and the restored original version "A Small Good Thing." I end to agree with the commenters that the Lish edited version is more interesting. These are both available in The Collected Stories which includes the original short stories ina collection called "Beginners."
Stephen King surprisingly writes about Carver, his life and stories, for The NY Times Magazine.
In a weird coincidence, our book club is reading his stories this month. Our meeting is tonight. Weird. Also, watched Kurosawa's "High and Low" last night. Amazing.

I'm a big Carver fan, and I'm glad you liked "High and Low." What did you think of True Grit?
