Word of the Week: Bonenkai

It's bonenkai("forget the year party") season and nearing Christmas time so there are parties almost every week. Most japanese companies organize these parties, perhaps an overall large party, then the smaller departments have them as well, but it's common to have them among friends as well. I am going to one tonight and have been to others Friday and Saturday night as well. When I get back in January there will shinenkais ("New Years parties"). This time of year can be exhausting with all the parties.
