I was afraid that I might miss hanami again, I haven't been in Japan the last two years during hanami, because I was traveling in the states, Taiwan, and China. Yesterday was really warm and my friend Jason invited me to his friend's hanami party in Yoyogi Park. There's supposed to be another party today, but there's rain in the forecast, so it might not happen.
The group of skaters next to us were selling bread, beer, and wine. They set up their own music deck and played Japanese punk rock and some foriegn music (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rancid, Sheryl Crow!?). View image
There was a lot of stuff going on. Down the way there was a group of Korean/Japanese doing traditional dances. View image
Later there were some guys twirling batons on fire.
Cherry blossoms at night.
Pat, this is a totally cool picture. I'm glad you were able to catch some hanami this year. The one you went to seems like it was a lot fun, with Japanese and Korean dancing and punk-rock and what-not!
Hope to see you around some time soon...
