Morioka is know for three noodle dishes. On the first day I had jajamen, which can be found easily in Tokyo. Another is wanko soba, in which the eater is challenged to eat 100 small portions of soba-I wasn't in the mood to stuff myself so I didn't take the challenge this time. The third dish is reimaen, which is a cold noodle dish said to have origins in North Korea. it has chewy noodles, kimichi (you can choose the level spiciness), pickles, a slice of beef, a hardboiled egg, and garnished with an apple (I saw others with watermelon).
