In 2011 Once Upon A Time In Anatolia was co-winner of the Grand Prix with the Dardene borther's film Kid With A Bike. This is a sort of slice of life film, in which a group of Turkish officials: policemen, a prosecutor, a doctor, drivers and diggers with two murderers search out the grave of the man they have murdered. The murders were somewhat drunk, so they cannot remember precisely where the body is buried. So at none point they take refuge in a small village and finally find the body before returning to town to put the finishing touches on the case by gathering the evidence and doing an autopsy on the body. There is a confrontation with vistim's wife and son and other townspeople when they arrive. The conversations between the men touch on many aspects of life and sometimes merge into the philosophical. It is a quite and slow paced film with little plot, beautifully filmed in rural Anatolia.
