The Awful Truth (1937) starring Cary Grant and Irene Dune is another of those great screwball comedies. And interesting to me, because in an episode of Mad Men, when discussing whether women were Marilyn Monroe types or Jackie Kennedy types-Don tells Peggy that she's an Irene Dune type-which I had no comment till now. I suppose there are worse people to be compared to, but I think Dune held her own against Grant. I think it's interesting that in these stories the people are often ridiculously rich, which might trigger escapism, but seems to me might have alienated people who were struggling, but then again movies had a different role 75 years ago.
