My Japanese students used to laugh when I told them that Yakitori was my favourite Japanese food. It took me a while to find out that they don't really think of it as food per se - rather an accompaniment to drink. I suspect they also had visions of me as a real oyaji as well perhaps...

You an oyaji? Well, I think that goes without saying,but, yakitori is very tasty and, yes, more of a snack than a meal. But for us meat loving foreigners a close second to karage, right?
